Scarcity: Argument or Cue in Health Care Reform?
15th December 2009
This is just the latest example of Scarcity applied to the ongoing health care reform debate. Here’s Vice President Joe Biden’s take.
“If the U.S. Congress fails to agree on a healthcare bill soon, the opportunity for a sweeping overhaul of the $2.5 trillion system will be lost for a generation, Vice President Joe Biden warned on Tuesday.”
Act now!
Supplies limited!
Standing Room Only!
Typically the Scarcity play is simply a Cue, something that requires little thinking on the part of the targeted receiver to produce change. But, Scarcity can also be an Argument. Hey, if we’re running out of a commodity, then we’ve got trouble in River City.
“Vote for this now because you won’t be able to vote on it for twenty years!”
How does that strike you? Argument or cue?
