And the 2010 Peitho Award Goes To . . .
1st January 2011
I begin this year with the public award of a new honor for distinguished work in the field of persuasion: The Peitho Award. It is given to those who’ve already achieved high distinction in the past year, mention in the Persuasion Blog. Among those noble few, each year I will chose the One that rises above the others in skill, cunning, and creative expression of the most important Rule: All Bad Persuasion Is Sincere. Judging thus only upon the inSincerity and the effectiveness of the persuasion expression will the One be known.
The Award itself is a highest quality graphic image of an ancient Greek pitcher of incalculable worth that displays an artist’s rendition of the Goddess herself, Peitho. The Award winner may simply right click on the image and save to the disk of his, her, or their choice.

The persuasion crew at Solvay gets a Peithos Award for their Low T website. Fabulous. Insincere. Insidious. They are selling a “pill” in the form of testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) for men. The Oracle of Omaha is valued as someone who knows business while knowing how to live a good life. So, when he famously declared that derivatives are Financial Weapons of Mass Destruction, everyone [...]

The New York Times offers this idolizing article over James Cameron’s recent trip to the Amazon river to meet with local tribes about the impending doom of a planned dam. They came from the far reaches of the Amazon, traveling in small boats and canoes for up to three days to discuss their fate. James [...]

Mike Leach deserves a Peithos award for practical persuasion for his interview with ESPN on the story behind his firing as the head football coach at Texas Tech. His statements create a powerful position that justifies his actions and cast deadly doubt upon his accusers and the Texas Tech administrators who fired him. It’s an outstanding example of persuasion. And you don’t have to have a Red Raider in the fight to see his skill. (And if you can’t see his skill, I’d offer a friendly warning for you to stay away from Mr. Leach[...]
And the 2010 Peitho Award goes to:
